Severe cases of disease caused by COVID19 result in the lungs being so restricted that external ventilation becomes vital. Thus, in the case of this pandemic, there is often a maximum number of infected people who require artificial respiration, for which many hospitals or countries are not sufficiently prepared.
Preparation for these states of emergency is enormously important, and that is why AIT Angewandte Informationstechnik ForschungsGmbH Graz, together with the Medical University of Vienna, has set itself the task of developing a ventilator that is simple and inexpensive to manufacture. Our main goal was for the ventilator to be available in a modular system and reliably contain all the operating modes of an expensive device.
In this way, we want to contribute to ensuring that sufficient ventilators are always available everywhere.
